A KEEN CO-OPERATOR

OF FARMERS’ AUCTIONEERING CO. -NEW DIRECTOR-ELECT. MR W. CARR ROLLETT. Iwo directors of the Farmers’ Cooperative Auctioneering Co. retire annually by rotation, and this year it has come round to the turn of two 6t the oldest and best known members— Mr Joseph Barugh (chairman) and Mr .o. Park. The latter, however, for various reasons, is not seeking reelection, and the only two nominations for Ihe seals are those of Mr Barugh and Mr W. Carr Rollett' Mr Barugh’s career is, of course, too well known for reiteration here, hut the Company’s wide clientele who, perhaps, are not so familiar with Mr Rollett, may rest assured that in him they have a man who will worthily represent them. Mr’Rollett is, perhaps. better known in the South than the North Island, where he was one of the founders of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Co. of Canterbury, and was a director of the concern for a considerable time. He has, from a young man, always been mixed up in public affairs, and was for over five years Mayor of Sumner, while he was also a member of the Lyttelton Harbour Board and Canterbury Hospital Board. He was also one oi the founders of Rollett and Co., Hour millers, of Ashburton, which in its day was one of the largest concerns of its kind in the Dominion. When he came north, he bought a tract of land at Tokoroa, which, in a few years, he converted from a dreary waste plain into a picture of smiling pasture. It is largely through his efforts that what was considered land unsuited to any kind of growth is novv supplying milk to a. cheese factory, which* last year earned the highest test for the province, tic represented the Tokoroa rifling on the Matamata County Council until unite recently, when he sold cut his interests up that way, and has now taken up permanent residence in Hamilton. He has always been a keen co-operator, and was an important factor in earning new business for the company when he accompanied the directors on their lug tour about 12 months ago. He is a man of keen foresight, and has a great capacity for commerce. The company is fortunate in being able to add his name to its directorate.
