LORD MILNER'S MANIFESTOPOLICY 03? RECONCILIATION. DEMAND FOR INDEPENDENCE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) CAIRO, Dec. 31. Lord Milner lias issued a communique explaining the objects of his mission. He says that the aim is to reconcile Egyptian aspirations with British foreign interests. Therefore the mission is anxious for the frankest and most cordial relations, and has invited all classes of Egyptians to express their ideas freely without--prejudice, with a view to reaching an understanding. The communique-'caused a demon--stratlon, necessitating soldiers,in oalas patrolling the streets 'during the evening. ! Order was thus; maintained. The Natiye Press insists upon the continued boycott of the mission. -. ■= Later a committee 'representing all the Egyptian parties considered Lord Milner's proclamation and issued* a statement insisting on complete independence, but stated that the committee was willing to discuss foreign, interests provided Egypt's sacred rights were not prejudiced.
