MOTOR CYCLE FATALITY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.l FEILDING, Friday. A fatal motor cycling accident, resulting in the death of a young man, Mr Norman Gillies, a son of Mr Hugh Gillies, the prominent Manawatu pastoralist, occurred mj»r Sandon on New Year's Day. The deceased had been riding a high-powered motor-cycle, and when last seen alive was travelling at a very rapid speed. The body was found on the side of a level road with the skull fractured. Marks on the road indicated that the cycle had skidded. The deceased recently returned from, the front. Uren defeated Ciabby oil points in a fifteen round contest for a purse of £SOO and the middle-weight championship of Australasia in the Hastings Municipal Theatre last night.

A MOTOR SMASH. FIVE PERSONS INJURED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Friday. A serious motor smash occurred at Wallaeetown yesterday at an intersection of roads." Two cars were travelling at about 25 miles an hour and collided. One turned over three or four times, the live occupants being injured and removed to the hospital. Eileen Fitzpatrick, four years, sustained a fractured skull; Miss MeArthur, aged 20, a fractured collarbone; J. Purdie, a broken leg; J. Cole, a dislocated arm; J. H. Thomas, injuries to her back and shoulder. The condition of the girl is serious, but the others are not dangerously hurt.
