THIS SEASON'S BUTTER
PRICE NOT YET FIXED. NEGOTIATIONS STILL IN PRO. GRESS. ABOUT ISO/ PER CWT. PROBABLE. (Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Mr Massey still is nnal-le to make any definite statement as to the arrangement made with the Imperial authorities concerning the prices cf butter and cheese tor the present season. It is understod that the negotiations arc not yet completed, and that further information may not he available till next week. Meanwhile specu. \ lation as to the price that will l>e fixed t for hutter ranges from 174s to 181s per ewt. The higher price probably u nearer the mark, as 17js is the pri'-e fixed for Australian hutter, and the New Zealand producers hitherto have attained about os per ewt more for their output than the Australian producers have for theirs. When the matter was put to the Prime Minister in this way to-day, he said it did not seem unreasonable to assume that the difference in prieps would he maintained. This seemed to suggest that the figure ultimately agreed upon may Ims 180s or thereabouts.
