NEW ZEALAND DIVISION

6900 CASUALTIES IN THREE MONTHS. NECESSARY REINFORCEMENTS AVAILABLE. jßy Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Minister of Defence states: — "The New Zealand Division is now resting. Our casualties from August 23 to October 21 totalled G9OO. I give these figures because I want the public to realist: that though reinforcements accumulate for some little timo, • one never knows when the call may come for them. Here the call came, .and the men were ready there to meet it. 1 regret that the casualties were so heavy; but am glad that men were there to replace them, and the fact that they were there has kept the spirit of the division up to the high standard it has always had. Its record is a very line one indeed."
