ATTITUDE OF ROUMANIA
REGARDED WITH MISGIVINGS IN GERMANY. COUNTRY OVERRUN WITH SPIES. (United Service.) Received August 24, 8.5 p.m. LONDON, August 24. Berlin is becoming increasingly alarmed at Roumania's attitude. King Ferdinand's prolonged interviews with the Allied diplomatists and M. Filipesco arc regarded as significant. There is increased war feeling, and the gravity of the situation is noticeable. BUCHAREST, August 24. Thousands of German spies are overrunning the country, proclaiming that their objective is business. PARIS, August 21. M. Taku .lonescu, leader of the Opposition, writes in the Paris Journal that Austria will fall, whereupon Herman will be besieged until she collapses and is compelled to capitulate. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received August 24, 8.5 p.m. LONDON, August 24. The Daily Telegraph's Milan correspondent says that the German press states that 50,000 Germans are lighting in Macedonia. Italian and German troops meeting in battle should settle whether Italy is at war with Germany. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, August 23. The Morning Post states that Hungarian correspondents at Bucharest are flooding the papers with pessimistic articles regarding ttie possibility of Roumania joining the Allies. The fact that the censor allows the articles to appear suggests that the authorities are preparing the public for the worst. What is actually going on in Roumania is not easily discoverable.
