LONDON, August 2i. General Milne, commanding the British forces in Salonika, reports: ••Yesterday we drove in the enemy advanced troops at Dakli, on the Doiran front. The Frencli holding the Komarjan bridge repulsed the enemy. The Serbians hold the line from Lake Ostrovo to Pozar."
The Serbians are standing fast against violent Bulgarian attacks between ostrovo and Petrsko. Fighting on the west wing is unimportant compared with the fact that the Serbians are progressing in the Moglena Mountains north of ostrovo, where they are threatening the invasion of Cerena Valley. The French held villages seized on the Belassitza slopes. The advancing Bulgarians surrounded the Greek guard at Demirhissar. nnr Creek escaped and warned the Seres garrison of the demobilised Sixth Division. The commandant called out the local reservists and defended the town. A committee has been formed at Salonika to enrol and arm recruits. Already two hundred have offered to serve for the defence of Seres. The # \!lj,. s never intended to undertake operations further east than the River Struma. The Bulgarians do not possess sufficient force lo achieve their real military purpose anywhere. A detachment of Albanians has arrived, wearing the national dress.
