HOROTIU.

A very pleasant evening was spent in the Horotiu public hall on Saturday night, when the prizes offered ty Mr H. J. Barford, superintendant of the Sunday school, were distributed. The Rev. Gow, of Hamilton, was present and kindly handed out the prizes at the same time making some very ■appropriative remarks. A -number of boy scouts, under the leadership of Scout-Master Gould, of Frankton, and a number of Sunday school girls of Hamilton, accompanied by their teachers, were present. Mr Barford deserves great credit for the very oocd work done during the past year, as will he shown by the marks obtained in the various classes. The marks obtainable in each class were as follows :—Attendance 52, marks for less m 100. Total 152. Class I. Annie Spence 50 100—150 Myrtle Henw<>od ... 44 76 —120 Ivy Prince 51 64—TL15 Stanley Blackmore 46 02 —108 Alma Diven 41 60—101 Class il. May Hinton 46 78—124 Muriel Hinton !(> 70—116 Myrtle Blackmore ... 44 70—114 Each child less fortunate than those mentioned received a prize to encourage them to do better work in future. After the prizes were distributed:, the young people played games for some time, when refreshments were handed round by the ladjiee.
