Newcastle Road Board.

Tits monthly meeting of the Boiard was held at the Board's office, Te Kowkai, , 0 n Monday. Present—Messrs E. C. Shepherd (chairman), J. Duck, W. Clow, and R. I-I. Nicholson. SUBSIDY. They also requested that a fwe across the road !be removed.—Messrs Pofynter and Duck to inspect the road and report. Messrs Dalbeth, Riddle, and Johnson waited on the Board and requested that the road from Blelock's to Bonfray's Hill lie formed, about 30 chains.—Messrs Nicholson and Duck to see the road and report. It was decided to write the Tuhikaramea Road Board offering \o bear half cost of metalling the hii! near the finger post at Koromatua. Mr Duck stated that Mr Barry, Te Kowhai, had offered to contribute £5 if the Board would expend £lO in grading the hill near his plaoe. The chairman pointed out that if the Board has to expend £230 in re-building Blackett's bridge, othpr works in that' part of the district will have to be cut down.—The matter was deferred, Mr Poynter to be requested to give further details re ths bridge and earthwork. SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the Board was held subsequent to the ordinary meeting. A resolution was passed authorising the raising of a loan of £l5O for the purpose of taking a new road through Tarver's land at Horotiu : also a resolution making a special rate of a farthing in the £ for the purpose of paying the interest on the loan.
