LAMENTABLE BOATING ACCIDENT.
(BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN tfORKBSPONDENT). Auckland,-Last Nighk _ A lamentable boating accident occurred in the Manukau oft' Huia yesterday afternoon, by which three persons were drowned. Captain Daniels, Miss Laura j Cowper, Miss Agnes Lyell, and two lads Dempsey and Lyell, went out boating and reached Huia where they were becalmed and remainod all right for some time, when a sudden squall capsized the boat. Ihe two lads succeeded in swimming to the shore about two hundred yards distant, but Captain Daniels and the two ladies were drowned. One of the lads arrived in Onehunga this afternoon bringing the news of the sad accident. Miss Cowper was u young lady from Hamilton on a visit for a few days at Onehunga. One body was found being that of Miss Cowper. Captain Daniels was formerly employed by the Northern Coinpany. _
