SOUTH AUCKLAND CATTLE BOARD.
A meeting of the So th Auckland Cattle Board was held at the Farmers' Club on Saturday afternoon. Present : Messrs E. Maclean, (chairman), H Buttle, A A, Fantham, C. J. Storey, and R. H. D Fergusson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and a voluminous correspondence read which we are unable to publish,* as our reporter was excluded, Inspectors Runciman, -and Naden were also excluded.
INSPECTOR RUNCIMAX'.S REPORT was to the effect that he had visited Mr McNichol's cattle at Ohaupo on the 9th inst, and saw no appearance of Plcuro ; on same date visited Burkes cattle at Te Awamutu; among these cattle one roan heifer and one white calf gavo indications of not having recovered from plcuro. On the 11th he inspected native cattle at Tamahere, and does not think thatpleuro exists there. On the same day he inspected Mr Burkes cattle at Pukerimu, and considers that pleuro does not exist on that farm. Inspector Runciman recommended that the restrictions be withdrawn from the whole of the district with the exception of Mr Burkes farm at Te Awamutu, and the Waikato Land Association's property also that no cattle be allowed to run on the Company's land on the West side of the Komokorau creek. We understand that the report of Mr Naden was almost identical with lnspectoa Runciman's, with the exception that he has not visited Mr McNichol's cattle. The first proposition put before the meeting was that tabled at last meeting by Mr Fantham :— " That parties known to have had pleuio-pneumonia on their farms and not having given notice to the Board be proceeded against in a Court of Law." This, however, was not seconded, and consequently fell through. Mr H. Buttle proposed, and Mr R. H. D. Fergusson seconded — Tlut the restrictions be reimned irom Mi McNicol's i«um, at Ohaupo, attei inspection by Mr Naden, on Wednesday, the 16th instant, and reported clean. Carried unanimously. Mr Buttle proposed, and Mr (Storey seconded — That after hedriniy the report of the Inspectors this Board is of opinion that the restrictions be removed from j\lr Burkes hirm, Pukerimu. Mr Fantham proposed, as an amendment—" That the farm should remain as at present," which did not find a seconder, consequently the original motion Avas carried. Mr Burke applied to have the restrictions removed from part of his farm at Te Awamutu, which the Board were not prepared to grant at present. The Secretary was instructed to inform Messrs Buckland and Hunter that the restrictions on their cattle bales had been removed. This concluded the meeting.
