WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
TAKAPAU BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING (From Our Own Correspondent) The fourth, annual meeting of the Takapau branch of the Women’s Institute was held on Thursday afternoon in the Town Hall when there was a large gathering of members, presided over by Mrs. W. Jackson. The hon secretary, Mrs. AV. B. White, read the report and balance sheet, these showing the many activities of the Institute and an improvement in the credit balance from the previous year. The receipts totalled £44/8/4 (including a credit of £4/14/9 from 1 932 ) and expenditure £4 3/12/0, leaving a favourable balance of 16/4. Subscriptions totalled £6/18/- for 1932 and £2/16/- for 1933. The president thanked all those who had co-operated and assisted in cue of the most successful years’ of the organisation. Thanks was tendered to the retiring officers for their services. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs. AV. Jackson; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mrs. AV. B. AVhite; committee, Mesdames Pease, Vesty, Campbell, E. H. Thomson. AV. G. Jackson, Drake. A. Jackson. Clayton, and Misses Woolcott, H. Thomsen, and McMillan. The potato growing competition was won by Miss McMillan (581 b. runner-up. Airs. McMillan (541 b and a rubber tube competition was won by Miss Audrey Thomsen. Airs. A. J. Campbell and Airs. AV. B. AVhite were appointed as delegates to the forthcoming Federation meeting to be held in Ormondville. The meeting closed with the National Anthem.
