OTANE NOTES

CRICKET AND GENERAL (From Our Own Correspondent) A very enjoyable game of cricket was played on the Recreation Ground yesterday afternoon, when a visit was paid by the Te Kura team. The visitors scored 66 (Davis 30, Price 16, Fairhall 10) and Otane 85 (Drinkrow 22, Ashby 16, Page 1-5, Williams 10). For the visitors Davis, Samuel and Price secured the most wickets, and for the home team Page and Barrie. Arrangments have been made to play another match on Saturday week when it is expected a very even game will eventuate. Word has been received that Mr. J. H. August who recently underwent an operation in the Waipukurau hospital is doing very well. • Local fly fishermen have not been very successful in their bags this season, the fish though fairly ( plentiful are very shy.
