BANKRUPT OUTFITTER
MEETING IN HASTINGS ESTATE OF S. A. HORLOCK A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Sydney Alfred Horlock, of Hastings, clothier, was held at the Hastings Courthouse yesterday, and was presided over by Mr G. G. Chisholm (official assignee). Bankrupt’s personal and financial statements have already been published. Bankrupt’s counsel said that bankrupt’s wife, who did not appear as a creditor, would be a loser to the extent of £544, nearly all of which was lent to bankrupt when he was in business in Auckland. There had been no attempt by bankrupt to pay back his wife’s loan, and even the interest had not been paid. Mrs Horlock, knowing it would be futile to claim against the estate had made no claim. After some discussion of a sum of £BB shown as wages owing by bankrupt to his wife, bankrupt’s counsel agreed to prove for £5O only, the payment to bo preferential and in full payment of the whole of .Mrs Horlock’s claim on the estate.
