ELECTRIC SUPPLY
IN THE WAIBARAPA REDUCTION IN CHARGES The following are the reductions agreed upon by the Wairarapa Electric Power Board at its annual meeting:—
That the following reductions in charges be made by increasing the discounts allowed on the different classes of load, the new scale to operate from June Ist: —
Lighting and Heating—Reduction of Bd. per unit, reducing the net charge to 6Jd. and 3 l-4d. Milking Motors. —Reduction of |d per unit in the first 200 units per month, reducing the charge to: First 3.00 units per month, 3gd per unit; jsecond 100 units per month, 2Jd per Unit; all over 200 units per month, 2d. per unit. Industrial Motors, 4 h.p. and under: Reduction of Id per unit for the first 200 units per month, reducing the charge to: First 100 units per month, 31 per unit; second 100 Units per month, 2ld per unit; all over 200 units 2d. per unit. Cooking and Heating: First 100 Units per month l-4d. per unit; all over 100 units per month, Id. per unit, thus reducing the charge to: First 100 units per month, 11 per unit; all over 100 units per month, 1 l-4d. per unit. Summer Time Extension It was decided to forward the following remit to the Executive of the Power Boards’ Association: —“That the Summer Time Act, 1929, he amended to provide that summer time end on the first Sunday after 31st March, instead of the third Sunday in March.” The Finance Committee submitted to the meeting the following recom-
mendations: — 1. That the salaries of those members of the. staff receiving in excess cf £3OO per annum be subject to a cut of 1-0 per cent., provision to be
made that those receiving between £3OO and £330 per annum are not reduced below £285 per annum. That the salaries of those members of the staff who did not receive a 10 per cent, cut in May, 1931, be subject to alO per cent. cut. That the salaries of the remaining members of the staff be subject to a 5. per cent. cut. The above reduction to come into force on Ist June, 1932, and be subjected to revision in May, 1933. Mr. Grace moved as an amendment that a cut of 10 per cent, be made on all wages and salaries which had not hitherto received a cut, and a 5 p6r cent, reduction on all others. Mr. Brown explained that this would mean that the saving anticipated would be reduced by about £133. Mr Booth seconded the amendment, which was carried.
