Ambulance Art Union

PROTEST FROM ST. JOHN’S

AUCKLAND BRIGADE’S OBJECTION.

(Per Press Association)

AUCKLAND, November I

The sale of tickets in Auckland on behalf of the Wellington Free Ambulance was criticised at a meeting of the Auckland centre of tho,St. John Ambulance Association on the ground that is constituted an unwarranted invasion of the Auckland Centre’s territory. The St. John Ambulance Association in Auckland does not employ an art union to raise funds, but depends upon annual appeals to the public.

The honorary secretary of the Auckland centre, Mr W. Rattray, reported that he had written to the Auckland members of Parliament setting forth the centre’s views and had received a number of sympathetic replies. On the motion of the chairman, Mr C. J. Tanks, it was decided to write to the honorary secretary of the Dominion executive of tho St John Ambulance Association, Mr C. R. Falconer, protesting against the action of representatives of other centres in selling tickets for art unions in Auckland and forwarding copies of the letters received from Auckland members of Parliament.
