An Unusual Accident

CRICKETER LOSES AN EYE RECEIVES BLOW FROM BALL (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, Last Night. Severe facial injuries which later necessitated the removal of an eye, were received by Ralph Burton, aged 34 years, of Mount Roskill, while playing for the Ellerslie senior cricket team on Saturday. Burton was fielding when he was struck by the ball between the left eye and the nose. The nose was broken and a deep cut over the eye inflicted. Burton was removed to hospital, where it was found necessary ( to remove his eye. He is well-known in cricket circles.
