(Special to the Examiner.) Pahiatua, This Day. The attendance at the local school demands more assistance. The number on the roll is 244, and an average of 89. The new class room is not yet ready for occupation, and great inconvenience is felt, 85 children being crammed into a room seated for 40. Mr Beunet, storeman for Mr Gregory was married to Miss Tomb on Wednesday, and they’ have gone to Napier for their honeymoon. The meeting of the School Committee should have been held last evening, but lapsed for want of a quorum. I don't suppose the Govermeut would accept a volunteer corps if formed here, but there are a great many who would join a rifle club if only some one, who is acquainted with the subject, would take it iu hand. I understand the rifles could be procured from the Government at cost price, and they will have a supply of Martinis iu a short time. [by telegraph.] Pahiatua, This Day, C. J. Noilson was arrested this moruing on a charge of lunacy', and will probably undergo medical examination this afternoon. When in Masterton some years ago, he developed a religipu* mania, and was put under restraint for several months.

Mr Sorensen, dairy instructor, will arrive in Woodville this evening, and will visit the dairy factory to-morrow. Detective Herbert has been ordered to Eketabima, and left by coach at eleven o'clock to investigate the murder case reported from there.
