COMMERCIAL.

The market continues tolerably well supplied, through the goods received by recent arrivals, but stocks will become fuller on the arrival of the Queen of tuoAvon now 106 days out, and daily expected. There have been several sales by auction during the week but none calling for special notice. Messr. Duncan and Vennell sold a quantity of household f umiture on Monday, aud the same firm had a sale of books on Thursday, when nearly 1600 volumes were disposed of. The attendance at this sale was large, the bidding spirited, and the prices realised satisfactory, Messrs Duncan and Vennell also sold yesterday a quantity of furniture and other goods by instructions of Messrs Krull and Co, to close consignments. i We have been favoured by Messrs Bethune and Hunter with a copy of a report of the New Zealand Insurance Company presented at a general meeting of the proprietors held at the Company's offices, Queen sfreet, Auckland, on 15th July, 1863. The balance sheet, shows as the result of the Company's operations for the past year, a balance of £11,560 2s 2d. The Directors recommend the Company to take £15,000 from the Reserve Fund and apply it to the augmentatiou of the paid-up Capital, to be reckoned as a payment by the present proprietors of £6 per share. The amount of the paid-up capital will then stand as £30,000, or £12 per share, still leaving an ample Beserve Fund of £11,820 10s sd. The Directors, anxious to extend the Company's operations over a wider field, have made arrangements for opening Agencies in Liverpool, Glasgow, Mauritius, and Adelaide. We are unable at present to publish the full report, but after a careful perusal of it, we are highly gratified at the healthy state of the Company's affairs.
