The Council is at last satisfied with the explanations given relative to the alteration in the map of the 10,000,000 acres. They have passed the Land Bill through Committee. Its third reading will shortly take place, and it will become law probably in a month. The session will then terminate. In the Assembly, Mr. Ireland stated that the Governor would be advised in a few days relative to the Real Property Act. It was stated by the Speaker that he had received a writ for damages at the instance of Mr. Dill. Mr. Ireland was appointed to defend the action. At fie Criminal Court, Melbourne, on Mon. day, the following prisouers were Uied — Louis Paul Lugong was charged with forging and uttering a cheque for £13 5s t purporting to be drawn by Mr. W. Turnbull, of Melbourne. The prisoner pleaded not guilty, and at his owu iequest was tried by a mixed jury. The prisoner had tendered the cheque in payment for a pair of trowsers Aalue I9s. The prisoner was found guilty, and sentenced to two years hard labour on the roads.
