NEW ZEALAND INSURANCE COMPANY.
The report of the Directors of this Association presented to their shareholders at a special meeting on the 12th inst, will be found ill our pages of this morning. It is such as cannot fail to give the utmost satisfaction, not only to those more immediately interested but to the community at large. Having so recently had occasion to advert to the remarkable success of a sister institution— the Bank of New Zealand —we may. be pardoned for indulging in a passing remark upon the equal, if no t more surprising success of the Insurance Company. Originated barely three years since with a paid up capital of £4,000, they have already accumulated to the extent of £12,000, with the further assurance of an immediate and large extension of their capital. Referring to the repoit itself for details, we congratulate the Directors and Shareholders on the established position which the Association has attained. It is demonstrative of wbht well-conducted Colonial Institutions can achieve. And, we imy had, may operate as an incentive to the establishment of a Gas Company, which, under like management, eouJd not fail to be equally conducive to the prosperity of the shareholder?, as to the benefit of the public. — New-Zeatander, May] 4, 1862.
