By way of Otago, we have received Telegraphic intelligence from Sydney up tothe29ih. ultimo. We* are endebted to the Times and the Colonist for the following news : — Sydney, Tuesday. Parliament was opened to-day by the Go" vein or. The speech proposes a special appropriation ior keeping open the roads to the Lachlan during the winter; and for the commencement of the new houses of parliament and public offices. It also states that a Bill will be introduced for the abolition of State Aid to Religion ; the establishment of a uniform system of immigration ; the consolidation of the Criminal, the Customs, and the Postal aud Insolvent Laws. It proposes likewise the appointment of a commission from all the Australian colonies to settle a tariff, and establish free commercial intercourse. Dr. Lang moved the address iv reply. Commissioners are to be sent to the Fiji's, in 11. M.5. Miranda, to investigate a charge against the British consul, Mr. Pritcbard. Some of the police have been attacked and wounded by a party of Germans at Burrangoug. Bill to amend Constitution of the Legislative Council to elective basis. Abolition of Stata Aid aud other popular measures introduced. Two of Walker's party arrived at Rockhampton with despatches for Victoria. Walker aud his party are expected in a week.
