GOLF.
The Wanganui golf season concluded on Saturday with a mixed foursome bogey handicap competition. The winners turned up in Mrs Fowler and W. Gibson'and Mrs Lomax and C. P. were closely followed by Miss Robinson an dW. Gibson and Mrs Lomax anil C. P. Brown, who were 4 up on the colonel. The best.cards read as follows:Mrs Fowler and A. Robinson 5 up, Mrs Robinson and W. Gibson 4 up, Mrs Lomax and C. P. Brown 4 up. Miss A. Hatrick and J. S. Harrison 2 up, Mrs Wilkin and G. Saunders 2 up, Mrs Williams and Dr Williams 2 up, Mrs Izard and Izard 1 up, Mrs Harold and J. Harold 1 up, Miss Newcombe and F. S. Parkes all square, Miss Bayly and W. A. D’Arcy all square, Mrs Armstrong and N) Armstrong 1 down. Miss Harper and D. Meldrum 2 down. Miss Hatrick and L. J. Verry 3 down. At the clos eof the competition, Mr S. Pawdrell, the captain of the club, presented Mrs Fowler with a handspme cutglass, silver mounted powder bottle, and congratulated the winners on their good performance. All had enjoyed the mixed foursome so much that he had received several suggestions that the committee should hold at least three mixed foursome competitions next season, and no doubt the committee would accede to this request. THE IMLAY CUP. D. H. MACKAY WINS THE FINAL. The Imlay Cup Competition was brought ,to a conclusion last week, when D. H. Mackay (11), who has been playing exceptionally good during tho last few weeks, maintained his form, and by defeating F. S. Parkes (1) in the semifinal by the decisive margin of 4 up and 3 to play, qualified to meet J, Harold (scr.) in the final. The match was played off last week, and'after a contest was won by Mackay.
