PARAMOUNT MUNICIPAL PICTURES. “THE TEETH 01' THE TIGER.” GRIPPING MYSTERY STORY. ; / To-night, at the Opera House, the Arsene Lupin story will be screened, and this great photoplay, “The Teeth of the Tiger,” should attract a bumper house. It is well to remember that, owing !o the Opera House being engaged to-morrow night, “The Teeth of the Tiger” will be screened to-night and Friday night only. Interpreting the role of Lupin is David Powell, a finished actor, who is said to bo wellequipped physically and histrionically to play the part convincingly. llia chief supporting player. Marguerite Oourtot, long a favourite with picturegoers, Myrtle Stedman and Templar Saxe, have prominent roles also. According to the story, Arsene Lupin has abandoned his criminal ways, and is living ns a respectable gentleman in a suburb of an American city, when ho is summoned to lend his remarkable talents toward discovering the murderer of an old millionaire invalid. Ho succeeds in his .task, only after several exciting adventures into which an atmosphere of mystery and a pleasing love story have been, woven. A very fine supporting programme is to be presented, including “Speed,” in which A 1 St. John creates much monument. Patrons will require to get to the Opera House early to make sure of getting seats.
GRAND VARIETY ENTERTAINMENT.. OPERA HOUSE TO-MORROW NIGHT There is every indication that the booking for the above will be heavy. Four of the artists are making their first appearance. Not the least pleasing item in the very finely-selected programme will be the appearance of Moore’s Grand Concert Orchestra of some twenty instrumentalists, upder the direction of Mr Tom Gray. Mr Will Moore, the founder of the orchestra, is to be congratulated on the success that has attended his efforts in getting together an orchestra which is undoubtedly a credit to the town. The idea is to fill the long-felt want of some musical combination to visit and entertain the inmates of the Hospital, Jubilee Home, and other like institutions. This the orchestra have done on several occasions, and their efforts have been fully appreciated by the inmates and the old folks at the Home at Upper Mr Tom Gray, leader, has been a valuable asset, and to him also much credit is due for the position the orchestra now holds. Their items for Thursday night are selections from ‘'The Bohemian Girl” and (entre act) “Der Frieschutz.” The orchestra are visiting the local Hospital on Saturday afternon next, and extend a cordial invitation to any who may desire to spend an hour to cheer the inmates.
A meeting is to be held on Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock of returned soldiers and of the public interested to consider the question of a war memorial for Wanganui.
