A.S.R.S.
In regard to the proposal to send boys of 18 into camp for four months’, training a year, this resolution was passed; ‘ That this meeting of workers strongly protests against Sir James Allen’s proposal to take boys of_ 18 years of age into camp for four months a year.” One of the avowed objects of the Great War was the destruction of Prussian militarism, and now that is destroyed, it seems to us absurd and illogical that an attempt should be made to raise New Zealand militarism in its place. The civil population in countries where militarism has ruled has always been in subjection to the military 4 caste, and we have no desire to see such a state of affairs in this country.
At a meeting of the' Wanganui brandh A.S.R.S. last Wednesday, the following resolutions were passed, both to be forwarded to the Acting-Premier; • —"That this branch of the A.S.R.S. desires to draw the attention of the Acting-Pre-mier to statements reported to have been made by Mr Field, M.P. for Otaki, at tie Palmerston North Show; and, further, we wish to know if the National Government intends to take action against Mr Fields under the War Regulations.” The reported utterances of the member for Otaki are calculated to engender eminty between two important sections of the community, and it is to be regretted that Mr Field has so far forgotten what is due to his constituents as to advocate resistance to the will of tie people.
