Torchy is sure to be well supported in the Hack Steeplechase. Manawaponga is also expected to run well. From all accounts Coalition is in great form, and the winner of the big race hero promises to be sent out a warm favourite at Trentham to-mor-row. Master Strowan can always be depended upon to run a big race. The Winter Hurdles is likely to provide, a fine race. It ’is said that Omahu is a greatly improved - hurdler, and if so he will he hard to heat with 9.8. Multive, 10.10, has done so well recently that he is bound to receive solid support. There are sixteen left in the Parliamentary Handicap, for which event Alteration is greatly fancied, and the knowing ones are coupling him with Omahu and Coalition. Gold Ivip is expected to run much better at Trentham than he did at Hastings, while Detroit generally-gallops well in soft going. There is a disposition in Wellington to back Client, and if the son of Elevation can reproduce anything approaching his old form he will trouble the best of them.

Of the twenty left in the_ Te Arc Handicap, two very promising candidates are Sea Sprite and Dainty Step, and they are both likely to be solidly backed. Tempo is said to have been galloping well recentlp. He is fast enough, and if he has steadied down, as reported, he will keep the others busy. There are eleven in the Trial Plate, including American Beauty, an improving sort, and Tame Fox.
