KING’S THEATRE. HOLIDAY PROGRAMME TO-NIGHT. To-night’s change of programme at the King’s Theatre should prove a good attraction to pleasure seekers. “Her Husband’s Honour.” the featured'film,'is a story of city life as follows: —A desire for adventure causes Florence' Colo to join her father in a smuggling scheme through the American Customs Department. Meeting Robbins, a customs dn.spuctor, she falls in love with him and marries him. A secret service man tracks the smuggling to Colo ajtd Florence. The smuggling continues unknown to the husband of Florence, but he accidentally discovers the fact, and resolves to resign his position. Florence saves herself and himself bv a womanly act, and the play ends happily. “The Understudy” and “Just Retribution” are" both good studies. __ A very thrilling film is the Chicago Excursion Disaster, showing many sad scenes in connection with the capsizing of a picnic excursion steamer carrying oyer 3000 picnickers. Supporting subjects include two laughable comedies in “Those Ritter Sweets” (Keystone), and “Some Romance” (Kalem), ijlso an Australian Gazette. On Thursday night next the management will screen “Our Day,” a picture of much interest to local residents, showing the recent display by 1000 Wanganui school children honouring the Union Jack of old England and the flags of our gallant Allies. WANGANUI EAST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. SALE OF WORK. This very successful function was held in the Town Hall on Friday last. The afternoon session opened with prayer by the Rev. John Steven, after which Mr G. W. Blair, pastor of the church, briefly explained the object of the sale, and introduced Mrs C. E. Mackay (Mayoretn). who in a few appropriate words declared the sale of work opened, and wished it all success, A very largo number of friends and sympathisers were present both afternoon and evening, and vaster and congregation are more than delighted at the splendid response and very creditable financial results. The stall holders were kept busy throughout the sale, and credit is due to the following:—Plain goods stall, Mrs J. Wright. Mrs Brown. Mrs Wilkie and Mrs T. Wight; fancy stall, Mrs Jackson. Mrs G. Humphrey. Mrs Evans and Mrs T. McGregor; produce stall, Misses Brown, Reno Paterson. May Owen. • Dulcie Brown and Ruhv Wathers; flower stall. Mrs R. D, Paterson, Eileen Wilkie and Mavjorv Paterson; lolly stall, Mrs McLaren, Misses Tavlo’ - and Cicily Wilks; Christmas tree, Mrs Harkness; Indian werk stall, Mrs Hhimphrey, senr., and Miss May Blair; tea rooms, Mrs Eadie, Mrs Johnstone. Mr? Dabinett. Misses McLeod. Newman Dabinett and. .Wight. Mrs McLeod and Mrs Blair rendered valuable assistance throughout the Hav. Miss Dempsey’s orchestra contributed . special items at the evening session, which were greatly appreciated. The Indies of the Church Guild aro to bo heartily congratulated on tha success of,the 1915 sale of work.
