' WELLINGTON, October 23. The Wellington Racing Club’s spring meeting opened to-day in fine weather and with a large attendance. The course was in good order and the racing throughout was interesting. The totalisator handled £33,323, as against £28,675 on the corresponding day last year. ■ Results:— First Hack and Hunters’ Sloeplechase—l Agatha Green (11. McSweeney) 1; 6 Otupai. 2 ; 4 Chattis, 3. Scratched.;Naupata. Won by a clear length, eight, lengths between the second and'third horses. Time, 5.43 2-5. j' Riijnutaka Handicap-4 Sedd-el-Bahr (W. Bell) 1; 6 Thoughtful, 2; 1 Seadown 3. Scratched: Pearlform. From an even start Gold Painting showed in front with Miraculous second. The winner came with a rush, winning by a bare length, a length separating the second and third horses.
