(Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, August 31. The Otago Patriotic Executive met Mr. D. McLaren, the Wellington representative, to-day in reference to the forthcoming conference and Mr. Skerrett’s proposal. Mr. McLaren promised that the conference on September 15th would be as free as possible, and asked the local Association to prepare a memorandum as to how the fund should be held and administered, how far they should go in the way of reciprocity, and federation. Mr. Johnstone, local president, expressed the general view of the Association that Otago was definitely committed to the local control, moneys having been raised on that understanding. A subcommittee was set up to go into matters prior to the conference.
