SERIOUS CHARGE AGAINST YOUNG MAN. A Peculiar Cass.
(Per United Press Association.) ELTIIAM, July 5. A ease possessing some peculiar features was heard at the Magistrate’* Court to-day, when a young man named George Harry (Hairy was charged with carnally knowing a girl under 1G years of age. The accused and the girl had been previously engaged, and got married subsequent to the commission of llio alleged offence. Counsel for the accused urged 1 hat owing to the marriage further prosecution would ho pointless. The prosecution being independent of tho girl it evidence, and not on all fours with other prosecutions which were withdrawn through subsequent marriage hairing th* girls’ evidence, the Magistrate derided to commit the accused to tho Supjvnm Court. Bail was allowed, the accused in £SO and two sureties of £IOO each.
