HAYWARD’S PICTURES. LYCEUM THEATRE. The week-end change of pictures at the Lyceum Theatre in conjunction with the Garden Fete pictures, attracted a very large audience on Saturday evening last. The new series is quite equal to anything previously screened at this popular picture resort, and met with general appreciation Included in the new programme are some real gems, amongst which may be mentioned “The Message of tho Yiolin,” a charming story, demonstrating the old adage that true love is always triumphant; “The Kid” depicting the stirring adventures of a young boy; “The Little Breadwinners.” a sweetly pretty story of pathetic interest; and “The Master of the Quarries,” a thrilling story of revenge, murder, and detection. Two splendid scenic films were shown, that of “A Tour through the Italian Alps” giving the audience glimpses of some splendid mountain scenery, and “Broncho Breaking” showed the methods of breaking-iu horses in the Argentine. The comedy element was well supplied by “An Original Cross-country race” (by Max Linder), “Father Buys a Screen,” and “The Troublesome Baby.” Pathe’s Gazette is full of interesting items. An exceptionally fine film showing “British Army Manoeuvres” (said to be the most extensive operations ever carried out by the British army) was also screened, and proved intensely interesting. TO-NIGHT, in addition to the fine programme of ne--y pictures and the Garden Fete pictures, the pictures of the last Feilding show, taken by Mr C. F. Newham, will also be screened.
Tiie Choral Society will resume its practices to-morrow (Tuesday) evening, in the Museum Hall.
