WANGANUI ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY
The annual meeting of the above society will be held at the Observatory to-morrow (Friday) evening. A good attendance of members is particularly requested. It is sincerely hoped that greater interest will be taken in the society's proceedings and work in the future than has been shown in the past. Much useful knowledge and a deal of pleasure is to be derived from visits to the Observatory and making use of the splendid telescope and other astronomical instruments it contains. Mr J. T. Ward, the lion, director, devotes a lot of time and trouble to his work at the Observatory, as does also Mr T. Allison, both gentlemen giving visitors the benefit of their knowledge. The hon. director's report for the year ended 30th September last will be presented and read at the meeting to-morrow night, and will be most interesting and instructive. The committee would be much gratified to see an addition to the number of honorary members. Tho annual subscription is only 10s 6d and for one guinea a family ticket can be obtained which enables a whole family to gain access to the Observatory and make use of the telescope under the guidance of the hon. director or his assistant on two evenings — Tuesday and Friday — in every week.
