HIGHLAND RIFLES.

The following is the result of the fifteenth competition for the Challenge Belt and A and B Class Challenge Cups, which took place laet Thusda~ and Saturday (the first of a series of competitions, the former firing seven shots at 500 and 700 yards, the latter seven shots at the former range). The weather was extremely difficult. Rain and high gusty winds prevailed on Thursday, while a gale blew on Saturday. Under the circumstances, the shooting was below the average. Subjoined are the scores: —

, The following are the handicaps for next Thursday and Saturday's competition for the same trophiea in each plaes, A Class firing seven shots at 200 yards and 700 yards, B and C recruits seven shote at 200 yards only. A sighting shot, not to count in each case, ie allowed. A Class (500 and 700 yards) — Capt. McNaught scratch, Pvt. Drummond 2 points, Sergt. Cunningham 4, Sergt. Gibbons 6, Pvt. Gordon 6', Sgta Armstrong and Craig 10, L.-Corp. Hughes 14, Bug. Green, Sergt. Ross, and Pvt. Greaves 16. B Class (200 yards).— Pvt. McGonagle scratch, Set. Armstrong 4,, Corpl. Smith 6, Sergt. Watson 6, Sergt. Andrew 6, remainder of class 10. C. Class (200 yards). — Pvt. Boyle scratch, Pvte. W. and D. Howg 4, Corpl. Langridge, Pvts. Dawson, Tawse, McGregor 5, Pvt. Dobson 7, Pvte Cox, Handley, Moore 8, "Arthur, Stringer, Wilson, Jarman, J. Hogg 10, Cathro, Morgan, Smith, Sefflett, and Young 12; recruits joining thk week, if shooting, 10 points. Ammunition for all recruits this week will be issued free. Pvte. Drummond (A Class) and McGonagle (B Class) being out of turn last week, will be allowed to count their scores for last week'e competition, when the same ranges arc fired over in a future competition. The members are reminded of their parade (shell jackets) to-night. AH members, ex-members, and hon. members who play euchre, and desire to take part in next Friday's euchre match against the local Caledonian Society are requested to meet in the orderly room at 8.30 to-night, for the purpose of selecting the team.
