TILE CO.'S REPORT.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report on the sale held at Wanganui on Thursday, 20th September: —

We offered to-day 61 bales and bags wool (principally crutcbings), 1300 sheepskins, 1000 hides and calfskins, 17 casks and tins tallow, 6 sacks horse hair, and a small quantity of horns and cow tails, to a good attendance of buyers. Wool showed a slight decline, but prices of sheepskins were on a par with the rates ruling at the August sale. There was exceptionally keen competition for goodconditioned hides and calfskins, prices establishing a record for this market. Stout ox hides made up to 6fd per lb, cow hides up to 6sd, and calfskins 7|d per lb.

We quote as follows: — Wool. — Scoured crutchings B|d per lb, coarse crossbred fleece 7fd, good medium crutchinge 6d to 6}d, dead wool 7Jd. Sheepskins. — Fine crossbred 9d to 9|d, coarse and medium 8d to Bsd, inferior nelted 7d to 7|}d. damp crossbred 8s 4d to 9s each, salted crossbred 5s 6d to 7f lOd each, inferior and broken pelted crossbred 3s 3d to 4s lOd each.

Hides. — Heavy and medium ox 29s 6d to 33s each, lipht ox 22s 6d to 28s, coy. hides, fair conditioned 23s to 26s each, light 20s to 22s 6d, yearlings 66 3d to 13p. calfskins (sound) 3s 2d and 3s 3d (equal to 7id per 1b), damaged, slippy and cut from 9d to 2fl 8d each, bull and stag hide* 17s 6d to 255, horse hides 5s 6d to 9b 6d each. Horse hair, Is 5d to Is 7sd per lb. Cow tails, Is 7d per dozen. Tallow, average quality butchers, £23 and .£23 10s per ton, poor quality .£l7 10s to i>l9 10s per ton in casks, good mutton tallow in tins 21a 6d per cwt.
