ALLEGED BREACH OF LICENSING LAWS.

(Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 18. Frank Mulholland, licensee of the Bower Hotel, Burwood, was charged with supplying liquor to two men who were not lodgers and not travellers. One man stated that he went to see Mulholland re some plumbing business, and the other re purchase of a ham. Both had liquor, but stated it had been given them by the landlord, no money passing. One of the two v*as arrested later in the day at New Brighton for drunkenness after obtaining drink there, but he stated that he was sober when he left'Mulholland's/ The Magistrate said' he did not believe the men's story, but'there was no evidence to prove what he believed really took place, • In the face of recent decisions itwas impossible to convict.
