THE DUST FIEND AGAIN.

TO THZ EBITOB.

Sir, — When, ever will our up-to-date Council awaken to the necessity of a better system of watering the streets? It is a duty which they shamefully neglect. Instead of having the streets watered by the time the shops are all opened the water-cart docs not put in an appearance till an hour or two later, and by that time the shops are full of dust. Every morning sees the dust fiend anxiously waiting for its victim to open his shop, so that it can rush in and destroy his stock. I understood the Council had procured some hydrants so that the work .could be done quicker, buf it seems to be getting worse instead of better. Hoping to see this rectified without delay. — I am, etc., , - COVERED WITH DUST. Wanganui, December 17, 1901.
