In announcing the Annual Pic Nic Fete in connection with the Wanganui Rifle Volunteers, the Officers and Members of the Company venture to ask for a continuance of the support hitherto so kindly accorded to them, and can confidently guarantee their patrons an enjoyable day's outing, the programme arranged comprising many novel and interesting features. The site chosen (the Racecourse Reserve) is now well sheltered, being surrounded with forest and ornamental trees, affording convenient and picturesque nooks for family pic nic parties. The price of admission is as usual, and all children under 10 FREE. The promoters therefore ask the families of the town and neighbourhood to attend en masse to the benefit of their own healths and the funds of the oldest volunteer infantry corps in the district. J'oiuts to count 3, 2, and 1 for first, second, and third places respectively. RULES AND REGULATIONS. Nominations for Handicaps, and entrance for Maiden Race, to be made to the Secretary on or before Saturday, the 15th of December, at 9 p.m., at Mr H. N Brown's, Tobacconist, Victoria Avenue. Handicaps to be declared on Saturday, the 22nd December. Entries for the remaining events will be received at the Secretary's office, on the ground, on the day of the sports. The races are open to all, and will be run under the Rules of the Dunedia Athletic Club. Acceptances must be made with the Secretary at least half-an-hour before the appointed time of starting. — The time for receiving entries and acceptances will be strictly adhered to. — No nomination or entries will be received unless accompanied with the proper fees. — Competitors must appear in proper costume, and state colors at time of entry. — The decision of the Stewards, or whoever they may appoint, shall in all cases be final. — Four competitors to ■ stut or no third prize ; three, or no second ; two, or no first. Swings will be erected on different parts of the ground. Booths, Refreshment Scalls, &c, will be provided. Sports to commence at 11 o'clock sharp. .
