MAURICEVILLE NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent). Women’s Institute. Despite the bad weather a pleasant afternoon was spent at the home of Mrs A. Forsberg, Mauriceville West, on Tuesday, when the Mauriceville West Institute held their monthly meeting, Mrs H. Freeman presiding. A bright log fire glowed in the sitting room which was decorated with spring bulbs. The balance sheet of the dance held recently disclosed a good profit. It was decided to support a worthy appeal on behalf of the lepers on Makogai.
Two delegates of the Mauriceville Institute are to be sent to the February meeting, to be held in Pahiatua. Competitions resulted as follows: Sponge drops, Mrs Freeman 1, Miss M. Larsen 2.
Best article made from felt, Mrs Myers 1, Mrs Freeman 2. Waterlilies made from crepe paper, Miss M. Larsen 1, Mrs Forsberg 2. A demonstration watched closely and with great interest was that of floral work given by Mrs Scharmveber of Masterton.
A dainty bouquet of flowers was made and sent to a sick member. Hoartv votes of thanks: were passed to Mrs Scharmveber and' to Mrs Forsberg.
