HARRIER ACTIVITIES

SANDERS CUP RACE. Members of the Masterton Harrier Club will visit Hutt on Saturday to defend the Sanders 1 Cup in a twelveman teams’ match. , This will be the thirteenth occasion on which the clubs have competed for this trophy, and to date Hutt Valley has won it five times and Masterton seven, so that the Hutt Club will be very keen to register another win in Saurday’s race, and a good contest should be witnessed. Sealed handicaps with trophies for the winners will be held by both clubs. The Masterton team will travel by bus, leaving the Post Office at 12 o’clock, and. returning late on Saturday night. A friendly run will be held for the junior and those senior members not making the trip, starting from the Park at 2.30 p.m. Next Saturday the club will hold its ten miles champiouship from Carterton to Masterton.

DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP. The Wairarapa ten miles district championship will be decided to-mor-row. The event will be contested over a cross-country course and not as in recent years, as a Carterton to Masterton road race. The race is scheduled to start at 2.30 p.m. from Solway Showgrounds. The course will be four laps each of 2J miles. In conjunction with this race, the Kiatere Harrier Club will also run its 10 miles club cliampionship, the winner of which will receive a handsome rose bowl donated annually by Mr Hugh Morrison, patron of the club. •

The junior runners of the Kiatere Harrier Club will have a training run of 24 miles.
