TURF NOTES. V. Carroll (Masterton), who a few years ago rode many winners for the late Mr W. H. Ballinger, was recently granted a jockey’s licence and will probably fill, riding engagements at Taulierenikau. Carroll withdrew from riding on account of overweight, but is now riding about 7.10.
An inquiry regarding the running of the Ruatangate Handicap at Whangarei on Saturday was concluded' by the Judicial Committee of the Whangarei Racing Club last evening. The race was won by Royal Potoa, with Oreficld second and Gay Cockade third. The result of the inquiry was that O. Mclnally was disqualified under Rule 295 for six months for his riding of Gay Cockade and J. H. Mcßae, rider of Royal Potoa,. was suspended for one month under Rule 302.
