GISBORNE TO NAPIER. OPENING CEREMONY. GISBORNE, This Day. Despite unfavourable weather, with misty rain and poor visibility, the opening of the Dominion’s first licensed air service, that being operated by the East Coast Airways between Gisborne and Napier, took place at noon to-day, the ceremony being performed by the acting-Prime Minister (the Hon. E. A. Ransom). The company’s noAV Do Haviland Dragon proceeded to Napier earlier in the morning and conveyed the official party to Gisborne, the passengers comprising the Hon. E. A. Ransom and his secretary, Sir Alexander Russell, Mr C. Morse (Mayor of Napier), Capt. J. L. Findlay (representing the Air Force) and Mr A. Spence (chairman of the Napier Airport Council). s Following addresses by various officials the plane again took the air and proceeded to Napier, where a similar ceremony was performed.—(P.A.)
