MONTHLY MEETING. (Special to “Daily Times.”) The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board was held at Carterton this morning. There were present Messrs. T. V. Moore (chairman), W. ,A. Tate, I. Grace, W. Benton, 11. P. Hugo, R. J. King, A. C. Pearce, D. McLachlan. The finance committee submitted the following recommendation for consideration of the annual meeting: —Reduction in charges to be made, increasing the discounts allowed on different classes of loads, the new scale to operate from Ist June and to remain in force for 12 months only and be subject to revision at the annual meeting m May 1933. . Lighting and heating reduction of i per unit, milking motors reduction of -) per unit m the first 200 units per' month; industrial motors. 4 horse power and under, reduction or. 1 .per unit for the first 200 units permonth; cooking and heating first 100, units id, all J over 100 id.per unit. ,j The secretary-manager (Mr George Brown) reported that during April there was a substantial drop in revenue compared with April last year The gross revenue decreased by t, and the nett revenue by £644 17 s 6d. There is no doubt at all that the unexpected increase in March and the consequent decrease in April is due tq a large extent to a variation in the dates of the reading of meters. On, this account, last financial year having gained a small amount in revenue at the expense of the current year, it does not follow that the substantial drop m April is an indication of the general reduction which might otherwise be anticipated for the current year. The- peak load in April shows a considerable increase compared with April, 1931 This does not affect the position to any extent, as the heavy winter load in June generally determined the peak for this particular quarter. Installation work throughout the whole district continues on a low bams. A number of additional points are being installed, and over the whole year these must have a beneficial effect, on the load and revenue. The additional load connected to the system in April amounted to 70 k.w., and included 146 light points, oS heating points, one small cooker, two water heaters, and two small electric motors. The total number of consumers is now 4376. Six new consumers have been connected during April. Showroom sales and repairs show a small reduction compared with April, 1931. Under present conditions the ieturn is satisfactory. Advice has. been received from the Public Works Department that tenders are being called for an additional 1500 k.v.a. transformer to be installed at the Waingawa. sub-station to cope with the additional loan on the system as a result of the Freezing Works connecting up. . Tim P’TiPG Trustee has delayed giving any final answer to the application for the granting of the redemption loan of £17,450 until the legislation regarding the reduction of rates of interest on local body loans has been finalised. The engineer (Mr 11. B. Keenan) icported that during the month 11 service connections were erected in the northern area, one in the central area, and one in the southern area.
