TENNIS
WAIRARAPA TOURNAMENT. AN AUSPICIOUS START. The seventh annual Wairarapa. Lawn Tennis Association Open Championship and thirty-fourth annual Handicap Tournament was commenced on the Masterton Club’s courts, Dixon Street, this morning under ideal weather conditions. The courts are in fine order and splendid arrangements have been made for the convenience of the public and competitors. The entries are greater than those of last year, there being 246 individual players competing. This morning a good start was made with a number of the events.
The tourney will extend over four days.
