ALL EYES ON CHINCHOW DEVELOPMENTS EXPECTED. Press Association Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received Tuesday, 8.55 a.m.) SHANGHAI, Monday. It is unofficially reported that the Japanese military headquarters are already established within fifty miles of Chinchow. The eyes of tho entire Chinese nation arc turned on Chinchow, and momentous developments are expected to follow the town’s capture. The Japanese are seemingly determined to push the Chinese across the Great Wall.
It is reported that Chinese Buddhists have telegraphed offering their services in a military capacity to the Government. It is estimated that there are 800,000 Buddhist monks throughout the country, of which possibly 200,000 are fit for service.
ERADICATING BANDITS.
JAPANESE OPERATIONS.
TOKIO, Monday.
A mixed brigade from Korea to-day reinforced the troops in Manchuria engaged in eradicating the bandits at present ravaging the country. The Government declares that it has no intention of driving out the Chinese regular army from Chinchow, but that unless it ceases instigating and supporting the bandits, a clash is considered eventually inevitable.
