RECONSTRUCTIVE PERIOD
EDUCATION THROUGH PUBLICITY. “Advertising,” according to Mr Francis 11. Sisson, vice-president of the Guaranty Trust Company of America, “has an important part to play in this period of reconstruction, a part of stimulation and education. May we realise our opportunities and obligations. 11. G. Wells says the fate of modern civilisation hangs on the issue between education and destruction. Under which banner are we marching? “Keep in mind this thought: Advertising is not merely a competitive weapon with which strong companies beat back the weak ones. The selling urge of good advertising not only influences them as to buying at all. If aR advertising and selling effort were suspended, few people would buy more than the necessities of life. Conversely, if all advertising were increased in quantity, and fired with fresh ideas and fresh appeals, people would buy vastly more than they do at present. That is what it is so necessary for business executives, as well as the general public, to grasp at this precise time.”
