FIGHT FOR THRONE.

FLIGHT OF BACCHA SAKAU. Press Association-Electric Telegraph-Copyriet DELHI, Friday. It is reported that Baecha I. Sakau has .fled to the Russian frontier, and that the majority of his officers have been taken prisoner in the dramatic capture of Kabul City. The Treasury was cleared of wealth by Baecha before his flight. There is evidence in Afghanistan and the frontier towns of a stronger feeling in favour of the return of ex-King Amanullah. Prince Hayatullah Khan and Prince Abdul Majidjan, Amanullah’s brothers, •who were reported to have bleu executed by Baecha, were found alive in Kabul. —A. and N.Z. P.A.

(Owing to a rebel rising of tribesmen who would not tolerate the social and religious reforms introduced by King Amanullah after a tour of Europej Amanullah abdicated last January in favour of his elder brother, the Sirdar Inayatullah Khan. The tribesmen were not appeased by the abdication, however, and would not reeognise the new King, who escaped to Kandahar. The rebel leader Baecha I. Sakau, assumed power in Kabul under the title of.Habibullah Ghazi, but his position lias all along been precarious.)
