SOUTHERN PRODUCE.
WHEAT FIRM. (By Telegraph—Prets Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Fowl and milling wheat arc in the main firm, not much of either being about. Fowl wheat has been selling at Cs lid f.o.b. 5.1., and 7s is being asked by holders. The tone of the forward oat market is firm, A Gartons being quoted at 3s Gd f.o.b. 5.1., and B’s 3s 2d for spread delivery. Inquiries have been arriving from England for cowgrass and ryegrass, but the spread between buyers 7 and sellers’ quotations has prevented business so far. The only seed carried over to any extent from last season is Italian ryegrass, cowgrass, and .perennial. Gar-ried-over stocks are lighter than for some years. (Standard cocksfoot is quoted at Hid a lb. but little business is doing. A more profitable market is anticipated for this product now that the competition of imported seed is removed, temporarily, at all events. Peas retain the easier tone previously recorded, being quoted at 7s f.o.b. S.I. The area is considered to be larger this year and the crops are looking well forward. Potatoes are quoted at £4 12s Gd to £4 13s f.o.b. 5.1., or £3 7s 6d to £3 10s on trueks.
