HOCKEY.

The Wairarapa men’s hockey championship was decided at Carterton yesterday, when Excelsior (Masterton) beat Wanderers (Greytown) by 4 goals to 2. Foster (2) and Davies (2) scored goals for the winners. Messrs G. H. Haync (Masterton) and Frank Bunny (Greytown) acted as referees. The Southland ladies’ team defeated Wairarapa yesterday by 5 goals to -. The first spell ended with the score even —two goals each. The Misses Ashley and M. Hislop scored for Southland, and Misses Orr and Knowles for Wairarapa. lu tiro second half Miss Hislop shot three goals for Southland.
