BUTTER SUPPLIES.
RISE IN PRICE CERTAIN.’ (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Eeplving to a question in the House of Representatives to-day by Mr u. Mitchell, Mr Massey said there were ample butter supplies in New Zealand at the present time to serve the population up to October Ist. This was owing to the fact that large supplies were carried over from last season. 1 e -was not in a position to say what the Government would do in the event o an increase in price taking place, which increase he regarded as certain. He understood that negotiations were still going on with the Imperial authorities and the producers, and when they had come to a decision, then he would be able to say what the Government would do. He did not think that the price of butter would rise to 2s 9d per lb locally-
