TEMPERANCE IN SCHOOLS.
The Hon. C. .1. Barr, Minister for Education, announced at Wellington y#s : terdav that lie was making arrangements in the direction of teaching something more definite in the way oj; temperance in the schools, than at present exists. The Minister is to be conjgratulatcd. upxm. the policy he has decided on,- . Mdj.reasonably -minded parent can find any.objection to the proposal; on the contrary, we. think that every such parent-will welcome the innovation. Air'Barr proposes to set idi at every teacher in- the schools should make provision, in the time devolv'd to health and hygiene, for somj: portion thereof jp.be devoted to tlijs subject, pL.tejnpyrany.iy.. Such sal has so much- to commend it that we cannot imagine any parent being sb neglectful of . his child’s welfare as to offer any objection. !
